2007 Annual Report

Form 990

Placements for FY06 reached 619 abused, neglected, runaway, homeless and at-risk children and youth.

In FY 06 there were 180 approved VEFC shelter care families. Additional host families are needed in all program areas, with a growing need for African-American families. There are presently 16 VEFC Shelter Program areas reaching 50 Virginia communities (See "Programs" for details).

This past year, VEFC volunteers provided over $2 million in volunteer services to children and youth in Virginia (based on the Independent Sector statistics for the value of volunteer time).

A 1992 cost benefit analysis of VEFC programs and services conservatively estimated that for every $1 invested in VEFC programs, there is a potential savings of $11 to the taxpayers of Virginia. VEFC is highly cost effective, and makes a significant difference in the lives of Virginia's children and youth.
